Rovio has been aquired by SEGA for $775 million!

Rovio, Creator of the original Angry Birds games, have been aquired by SEGA for $775 million!

The company best know for the Sonic the Hedgehog francise, SEGA is aquirring Angry Birds developer Rovio in a joint statement posted today.

 SEGA stated in a press release "Rovio’s distinctive know-how in live service mobile game operation, to bring Sega’s current and new titles to the global mobile gaming market.” They also want to help Rovio “expand its platform outside of mobile gaming.”

Rovio, best known for the Angry Birds franchise (launched in 2009). The Angry Birds games have been downloaed over 5 billion times (according to Rovio) and has since been adapted into two movies (Angry Birds Movie in 2016 and Angry Birds Movie 2 in 2019).

Rovio’s Puzzle Studio Announces Supernatural City!

Rovio Puzzle Studios has just announced Supernatural City "all-new narrative-driven puzzle game"! Supernatural City is soft launching is select regions around the world, it is the second game from Rovio Puzzle Studio, the first being Small Town Murders.

Supernatural City focuses on a young woman names Ellie Delmar living in the bustling city of New Gateway, her "father goes missing, she returns home from a peaceful life in the countryside to go look for him". The full synopsis reads as follows:

"Welcome to New Gateway, a grand and bustling city full of secrets and mystery – and the birthplace of Ellie Delmar. When Ellie’s father goes missing, she returns home from a peaceful life in the countryside to go look for him. But her father’s whereabouts aren’t the only mystery she discovers there. As Ellie picks up his trail and reconnects with her roots, a hidden power begins to awaken within her, allowing her to speak with ghosts and encounter spectral visions of the past."

Players can expect to attempt to complete "hundreds of brain-teasing matching puzzles" and join Elllie as "she meets a colorful cast of characters" as she's on her quest to find her lost Father.

Supernatural City is in soft launch starting today (April 8th 2021) in the United States, Finland, Sweden, Poland, Canada, Philippines, Denmark, Spain and Lithuania. It can be downloaded for free from the App Store and Google Play.

Angry Birds Movie 2 Official Trailer Review

The Angry Birds Movie 2 trailer has been released and oh boy what a wild ride! After Red single-handedly saves his island, he is treated like a celebrity but that doesn't last for very long... From the trailer we can see that the Angry Birds and Pigs are going to team up in order to defeat the purple bird in order to stop them from destroying their islands with ice cannon balls.

The trailer has some very funny moments; one of my personal favourite is when both the crew all bundle into a goofy bird costume to try and steal an ID card from a security bird, let's just say things don't go as planned and someone probably ends up in a coma or worse!

As you can imagine there will be a lot of tension between the birds and the pigs while they work together; there will also be a plethora of new characters (including Chuck's sister Silver) that we are introduced to and there will even be some speed dating involved.

Overall, it's a really great trailer, the movie has a great storyline, some great scenes, funny moments and great music as well!

Angry Birds Movie 2 Teaser Trailer Review

The teaser trailer for Angry Birds Movie 2 (August 16, 2019) was released in February; the official trailer is supposed be released in the near future and I have to admit that I was not excited for this movie... but after watching this teaser trailer I actually laughed a few times and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

There is no summary for Angry Birds Movie 2 yet but from the teaser trailer, we are introduced to a brand new(?) purple bird who is fed up of being stuck on a ice island and it's going to do anything it can to escape it's icey isolation; it's going to do this by launching a war between itself, the Angry Birds and the Angry pigs?

Pre-Order Angry Birds AR: Isle of Pigs now!

You can now pre-order Angry Birds AR: Isle of Pigs, the new AR (augmented reality) Angry Birds game from Rovio and it will be available to download later this year.

In Angry Birds AR: Isle of Pigs, you can play on any flat surface, you will be able to move freely around each level; so you will be able to find the best place to launch your attack. 

 Unfortunately this game will only be available for iOS: specifically iPhone 6S and later, iPad 5th generation and later, as well as all iPad Pro models. There have been many requests for this game to be released on Android, so hopefully we will see an Android version in the future.
